NOTAS
DE VIAJE (TRAVELLING NOTES)
After the collaborations with the OST (Tenerife Symphonic
Orchestra) and after a few years investigating and studying the instrument,
I recorded this project with Manzana Productions. It poses an emotional journey
throughout countries that have had historical relationship with the Canary
Islands. The idea was to make versions of melodies from different styles and
cultures that were very different among each other, from a Ragtime to a Senegalese
love song, going through a Beatles song. More than twenty musicians and a
very universal sound were the ingredients of what have been my best sold record.
Without any doubt the hit of this cd was “Nube de hielo” (“Ice
Cloud”), a short ballad that has given me a lot of joyand which managed
to find its way into the hearts of my fellow countrymen.
The cd was produced by José Manuel Ramos and I keep a special memory
of its presentation in the Paraninfo of La Laguna University.
